Community Engagement Initiative hosts engaged scholars workshop series for faculty; application deadline extended to Feb. 28

Faculty members looks toward a presentation

This spring, the Community Engagement Initiative will host a five-part workshop series to cultivate engaged faculty scholars.

Ten faculty members will be selected to participate in the workshop series, which will be held every other Tuesday, 3:45 to 5:15 p.m., from Mar. 5 through Apr. 30, 2024 in the Faculty Commons Sandbox in Pearson Hall Room 116. Each participant will receive $500 for professional activities upon completion of the series.

Applications should be submitted to Beth Orsega-Smith at eosmith@udel.edu by Feb. 28.

Applications must include a brief description of faculty interest in community engagement and a short biographical sketch. Selected participants are expected to complete all five workshops.

Tenure track or CT faculty members who are interested in professional development in community engaged teaching and research/creative activities should apply.

At the conclusion of this workshop series, faculty will describe the history and components of engaged scholarship, prepare materials for merit/promotion and tenure with an engaged scholarship focus and create short- and long-term plans designed to build a career as an engaged scholar.
